Just in case you didn’t know…we have a two-time national champion among us! 2020 Biddeford High School graduate and Coach Will Fulford Scholarship recipient, Ben Drummey again topped the field last month at the NCAA Indoor Tack & Field in the pole vault to claim his second national title.
On his performance, Ben says, “So the season kicked off to a slow start. Coming back from a dislocated shoulder it took me most of the season to even get my qualifier in. A couple weeks before the meet everything started to click again, and I felt great entering the meet with confidence that I was jumping like myself again. Through the competition everything felt amazing, and I was jumping bars on my first attempt which gave me the edge right off the bat especially when I became the only one who cleared 5.00 first attempt. I slid into the lead so everything went very smooth and that was a great feeling compared to some other meets where I’ve used my third attempts and put stress on myself and coaches!”
Congratulations again, Ben! We wish you all of the best for a healthy outdoor season AND a strong academic finish to the semester!
